Find Out Where Web Globalization Is Headed
The field of Web globalization is still very much in its infancy. "Web globalization manager" job titles are in the minority and most companies offer fewer than five languages on their Web sites. This landmark survey sheds light on where Web globalization stands today and where it is headed.
We interviewed 100 executives at companies large and small, asking questions such as:
- What languages do you plan to add?
- What translation vendors are you aware of?
- What software vendors do you use?
- What are your major challenges?
- Do you conduct usability testing of your local Web sites?
About the Survey
The survey was conducted during the months of July and August 2005. We collected more than 150 survey responses. These responses were then manually validated to ensure that there were no duplicate entries and that respondents included only end users of Web globalization services. Responses submitted by globalization services and tools vendors were not included.
The final list includes 100 companies that currently offer multilingual Web sites. We then conducted
conversations with executives at 15 of these companies to validate our findings and get a better understanding
of emerging trends.
